Proverbs for a Family Legacy

James 1: 5 tells us,

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

When we ask God for wisdom how does He answer us? – through His Word. That is one thing that the Book of Proverbs was designed to give us – wisdom - according to Proverbs 1:1-4.

“The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.”

But while the Book of Proverbs and all of Scripture is a necessary ingredient for getting wisdom, it is not sufficient. As James 1:5 tells us we must ask of God. We must pray. The work of the Holy Spirit is a necessary ingredient in illuminating our minds to understand the Scriptures and in empowering us to apply the wisdom that is in the Scriptures. Wisdom is an important ingredient in building Your Family Legacy and this blog is designed to encourage and help you to build YOUR family legacy. Among other things this blog plans to daily touch on a thought from the chapter from the Book of Proverbs that corresponds to that day of the month.
